Coronavirus measures decreed by Bishop Mark O’Toole 18th March 2020
Holy Mass: No public masses until further notice; priests will say private masses on their own every day behind locked doors. The obligation for people to attend Sunday mass/holydays of obligation has been removed from us all for now.
We have been instructed to close our churches completely even for private prayer. Please come back to this website regularly for any changes to these measures.
Holy Communions: There will be no Holy Communions given at this time. We will all be encouraged in the time-honoured practice of making ‘spiritual communions’.
Will the priest still be able to visit me? Priests can visit those who are sick and need the priest, with careful hygiene measures.
Confessions 4-5pm on Saturdays outside St Joseph's church using usual precautions (or on request; please arrange with the priest).
Baptisms will be deferred unless there is a serious reason.
First Holy Communions will be deferred until further notice.
Confirmations will be deferred until further notice.
Marriages Unless already arranged, these will be deferred until further notice.
Funerals will be at the graveside or crematorium only, with requiem masses only celebrated when these measures cease.
