Coronavirus measures decreed by Bishop Mark O’Toole 18th March 2020
Holy Mass: No public masses until further notice; priests will say private masses on their own every day behind locked doors. The obligation for people to attend Sunday mass/holydays of obligation has been removed from us all for now.
We have been instructed to close our churches completely even for private prayer. We have to fast even from the closeness of Our Lord's Eucharistic presence this Lent.
Holy Communions: There will be no Holy Communions given at this time. We will all be encouraged in the time-honoured practice of making ‘spiritual communions’.
Will the priest still be able to visit me? Priests will be visiting those who are sick, with careful hygiene measures, but not those who are self-isolating.
Confessions on request only; please arrange with the priest.
Baptisms will be deferred unless there is a serious reason.
First Holy Communions will be deferred until further notice.
Confirmations will be deferred until further notice.
Marriages Unless already arranged, these will be deferred until further notice.
Funerals will be at the graveside only, with requiem masses only celebrated when these measures cease.
